Pantone is one of the leading voices for color in the world of design. We are so influenced by the colors that surround us, it is important to know what to expect in the year to come. As we quickly approach 2024 (if you can believe it) the color that will lead the way, according to Pantone is "Peach Fuzz" 13-1023. The hue is like a warm blanket. It is calming and Pantone notes that it, "captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It's a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul."
I think they chose well. A year enveloped by this color sounds good to me. Pantone also projects how this color can be used in fashion, graphics and multimedia. In other news, Sherwin Williams took a very different approach and are naming "Upward" SW6239 the color of the year. According to SW it is...
"a breezy, blissful blue. The color found when we slow down, take a breath, and allow the mind to clear".
This also fills my heart with hope and comfort. So the theme is calm and soothing in both cases. The year 2024 should be filled with a time to take note of the beauty around you. Slow down and breath.
Last but certainly not least, Benjamin Moore took a slightly different angle and went in a more vibrant direction with their color of the Year "Blue Nova" 825.
They are looking to "inspire". They describe the color as "This alluring mid-tone features an enchanting duality, capturing the spotlight with endlessly classic appeal".
With additional colors to choose from as 2024 inspires entire palettes. It looks like we are moving toward colors that strive to keep us feeling safe, grounded and inspired. That seems like a great outlook for 2024! Let's get out our paint brushes and bring in the New Year with luscious color!
